Mother’s day special - Mothers hold their children’s hands for a while, but hold their hearts forever

Bu & Perridak Under 2s

Butterfly feet; painting their feet, whether one colour or rainbow colours press down or allow them to stand to create a butterfly. For the older ones add handprint flowers for the little ones allow them to explore the paint.


Go-Yin 2 to 3 years

Boquete of flower making; Paint egg cartons lots of different colours, cut the bases out and stick together around a bottle lid to create a flower – attach this to some sticks.  To break these flowers up add handprint flowers in between create a full Boquete of homemade flowers


Ngurr-Ngurr 3 to 6 years

Vase making; Using an old jar paper Mache around the jar until completely covered – allow to dry.  Once dry ask the children to paint or decorate it before sealing it with varnish spray 


Mon-Garrk Primary school

Hanging herb wall; Using plastic bottles, tie them together to hang one above each other (bottles laying horizontally) cutting a hole in the top and piecing a couple of holes in the bottom fill with soil and plant herbs.  Hang outside to continue to grow.  You could also decorate these bottles with pictures using sharpies prior to hanging.


Djila-Tjarri Exercise time

Special Mother’s Day Yoga; Calming partner yoga and stretching poses to practice together; Forward bend, seated cat pose, seated twist, easy pose, leg up a wall pose, mountain pose, snake pose and happy baby.  Hold poses for 5-30 seconds before moving to the next one


Family-Friendly Recipe Idea:

Caramello Slice (Makes 16)

Ingredients 

  •  250g block of ‘caramello’ chocolate
  • ½ cup (115g) of unsalted butter
  • 200 g pkt of chocolate chip cookies 
  • 1/3 tin of sweetened condensed milk 
  • ½ of rice bubbles 

Method 

  • In a large bowl crush the biscuits until coarsely broken 
  • Melt the chocolate and butter in a bam boree (alternatively you can use a microwave)
  • Stir in the condensed milk
  • Add the biscuits and rice bubbles
  • Press firmly into a lined slices tin and place in the fridge to set

Optional extra; If you like sprinkle with coconut or chocolate flakes before setting in the fridge.

Serve with a cup of mum’s favourite drink
